Description
Black Pepper is a spice that adds heat and flavour to many dishes. Like many eastern spices, pepper was historically both a seasoning and a traditional medicine. Black pepper (or perhaps long pepper) was believed to cure several illnesses, such as constipation, insomnia, oral abscesses, sunburn, and toothaches, among others. One tablespoon (6 grams) of ground black pepper contains moderate amounts of vitamin K(13% of the daily value or DV), iron (10% DV), and manganese (18% DV), with trace amounts of other essential nutrients, protein, and dietary fibre.
