Green Cardamom

Green cardamom is one of the most expensive spices by weight. The main reason this spice is so expensive is that it needs to be harvested by hand. It is a very labour-intensive hand-picking process. Chewing green cardamom after food keeps breath minty as it kills common mouth bacteria. South India has been the motherland for all spices for centuries. Cardamom is yet one more initially found in the Western Ghats and South India. Green Cardamom is used for digestion problems, including heartburn, intestinal spasms, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrhoea, constipation, liver and gallbladder complaints, and loss of appetite.

Storage: Store in an airtight stainless steel or glass container in a cool and dry place.

Description

The most widely cultivated type of cardamom, green or “true” cardamom is a spice made by drying the fruit of the herb Eletteria cardamomum, a member of the same plant family as ginger. It has applications in Ayurvedic medicine, use as a breath freshener, and the ability to transform the flavour of something as basic as rice.
