Description
Saunf is the Fennel plant’s dried seed. Due to its sweet-smelling and medicinal properties, it is very familiar in cookery and remedial applications. In colour, they are pale greenish and have a faint sweet and energising flavour. It is more than just a standard freshener for your mouth.
Saunf is a fragrant spice that is also regarded as one of the main ingredients of the Chinese 5 spice powder, hygienically processed. This is used in many Indian recipes very frequently. The carminative and digestive properties of fennel or sauna are well known; it is therefore served after meals to assist in the digestive process. This also acts as a refresher for the mouth and is a main element of benarasi-paan.
